However I was not to know that Dr Richards had planned an unusual test for me! One I certainly had not expected and one that I was uncertain initially how I should respond. The previous Headmaster had died of a sudden heart attack and the board was anxious to appoint his successor as soon as possible. To expedite matters he had been delegated (or had taken?) the full authority to appoint the new school Head. Dr Richards was an attractive and charming, slim, grey haired man in his sixties who carried an air of authority and dominance about him.
